Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

Your manager has little reason to lie to you. People will let you know if you're underperforming. You might ask specifically for feedback on the things you feel like you're not good at; hopefully that will invalidate your thoughts. Also, proof is in the pudding, if you don't get fired you know you're doing okay. And even if you did get fired, you have MBB on your resume and you'll be fine finding another job because if that. So rationally you're doing pretty okay.
But you probably know all of that, so it's more emotional than something that can be solved rationally.
Sounds to me like therapy is your best bet, but seems like you're doing that already and it's not helping. Maybe try another therapist?
If all else fails, you might go on a health leave, work on your stress symptoms, and come back when you're more settled?
Hang in there OP. I'm sure you will do great, you have what it takes to get into MBB, so stop doubting yourself.
Maybe the tier2 feedback was due to incompatibility and does not reflect your potential. Use your current feedback to guide you. Sending you good vibes🤗🤗

Relax . You are already at the top of the world . You did it . Even if fired - you will be rich successful etc
. The more relaxed and confident you are - the better odds of success at your current job will be .
To some degree I’d say that’s pretty normal. Hang in there, it takes time to get a grasp of real life vs. school/theory. And when you start to get comfortable, it’s time for promotion and you’ll start the cycle all over again 🙄

What do you mean by therapy/meds don’t help? Therapy and (if appropriate, medication) is a journey. If you’re not seeing success with one therapist, try a different one. This is a tough industry, you’re not alone in experiencing imposter syndrome, but I’d recommend continuing to talk with trained professionals instead of internet randos. You can look for people who specialize in helping folks in high-pressure jobs, which might yield better results.
Ketamine IV therapy was extremely helpful and a fast solution to my generalized anxiety (GAD). Definitely worth taking a look at
I looked into it but was a bit scared. Can I DM to chat?
I was at mck for 3 years (joined as an asc, left as an EM) - if you were actually doing badly, there is absolutely no reason you would not be getting very direct feedback that you aren’t performing. You should directly ask your EM to give you feedback on your performance and benchmark you against what theyd expect at your tenure (bc youre expected to have pretty big development areas at your tenure).
If it makes you feel any better - ive found most people at mck have imposter syndrome (i always felt like I was doing worse than my EM/ partner were telling me when i was early tenure- and then i got a pretty harsh wake up call from one of my sponsors when i was telling him my insecurities around this - he said “no one is going to risk the project just to avoid giving you honest feedback, no matter how nice they are or how much they like you as a person”
Its easier said than done, but i would just trust your EM and do regular structured feedback to make sure you stay on track (every 1-2 weeks)
Ty 🙏🏼 great advice
Listen - I’m sure all of this is good advice and you’ll get through this. Give it more time. However… the fact that this is affecting your mental health so deeply and people keep telling you to push through it? That this is “normal”? Do we ever stop to question why we are putting our bodies and minds through absolute hell in the name of prestige? It’s honestly mind blowing to me.
Good luck OP, wishing you peace of mind 🤍
That means many might suck the part at their job given they want to keep the job
BCG managers often sugarcoat feedback because they want you to give them positive upward feedback
This is ugly lol
Imposter syndrome. Accept it. Own it. Handle it.
The only way to move forward is to convince your brain that past performance in a role and team that was not a good fit, is not indicative of your performance here in a better role and better team. You should believe your manager, but if it takes a project or few / perf review or few to convince you, that's okay. Meanwhile start making a daily list of ALL the things you did well today, and any and all areas of improvement you notice, hear feedback on, and notice in others that you'd like to implement in your style. Text yourself, take notes, whatever, but every single damn day in every aspect of your life (your work, your speech, your mannerisms, your dressing style, your elevator pitch, your jokes at dinner, everything). A year from now with consistency in this method and diligence in your work, the belief and confidence will automatically come and the imposter syndrome would have slowly melted away.

Did you post about this recently as well? It sounds like you’re doing what you can (therapy/meds), but if the impact on your mental health is still this extreme you might consider whether sticking around is the right choice, and whether it’s going to be worth it for you. It’s a tough environment for even people with healthy self-esteem, and constructive feedback is never going to go away.
Therapy, meds, try to unplug for 3-4 days while on pto fully, exercise - especially cardio really helps mental health and mood. I know exercise time might be hard to come by but try to prioritize that and sleep.
Have a conversation with your manager if you feel you can trust them about what can I improve on and also ask what is going well. You are new so will be given a bit of slack for the first 3-6 months
Two things 1) what you are feeling is normal. I stated off doing ODDs in one of the most operationally complex verticals and it was brutal. Felt like I was messing everything up and that I was dragging the team down (and I was). I fought though, and while my performance was not a great, my character never faded and I showed that I’m willing to go out on my shield. My EM and D saw that and the feedback I got was I need to improve but they believed I could because the character displayed (and I have improved since then) 2) you have to get used to the idea that for the 1st year or so you going to make a ton of mistakes - I suggest that you intentionally look for opportunities where you can messes up so you can learn and become more well rounded.
Call up your EAP and schedule some free therapy sessions 💕
Don’t suffer solo, OP.
Why do you feel that the team hates you and your manager isn't honest in the feedback?
Getting an MBA and making it to an MBB is a testimony that you've got what it takes to reach there. So don’t doubt yourself! It might be a big change to work in a high-pressure environment, and may take some time to get used to it. Just give it some time! You'll be fine! Try changing the therapist?
Hang in there and wait for a less complex project to test if you can survive or not. If not, just do something else instead as consulting is way too stressful. Just curious, didn’t MBB interviewer ask if you had a return from your summer or not?
No, didn’t ask.
