Oh yeah.. How do you handle it? Lately, I’ve been letting the kids stay up a little later so we can do something fun together, which makes the transition feel softer.

like

I try to do soft errands— things I enjoy doing vs tasks that feel like I’m preparing for work. I’ll spend the day cooking and doing light shopping and then wrap with a movie or some time gaming

Honestly, no not too bad. I had two meetings cancel for tomorrow morning, so my day will be a little lighter than I expected. So, that is a major plus for me! I’m just a little tired right now so I’m hoping to go to bed a little earlier.

like

Nothing better than cancellations on a Monday!

Nope. I'm still in the "honeymoon phase" of my job and I don't dread it yet. I'm hoping that doesn't change, but for now I'm enjoying the feeling of not stressing out about Monday.

like

That’s the best feeling. I hope it lasts as long as possible for you! I will say I get it less and less in my current role compared to past jobs. But it does still hit sometimes

If I ever had this feeling, I would quit my job once I found something better. Life is too short to work at a place that causes this type of anxiety. Constant anxiety and stress literally takes years off your life.

like

It’s less anxiety, though I’ve had that at prior jobs and I left for that reason, and more just the dread of having to be “on” for the next 5 days.

I used to feel that way every week. Then my boss retired and under my new supervisor, I rarely do. Also, around that time, I was officially diagnosed with ADHD and put on medication, so I think it’s a combination of a better work environment and the meds.

Before that, I combated it by going to bed early Sunday night, and trying to keep my Monday schedule as calm as possible…

like

I do the same with keeping a light Monday. I try not to schedule anything before 10:30.

I recently accepted a job that I quite overqualified for because I’m in need of a job. I got hired as a Marketing Manager and work directly with the Marketing Director. Come to find out my director is still in school and has absolutely no marketing experience. She’s been with the company for 4 months. They seem to want to utilize my complete skills set and make up for her lack of marketing knowledge but maintain her position as director and pay me a entry level marketing manager salary. Advice?

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

Can anyone relate? If I’m stressed out, I can’t focus on my tasks because my productivity is driven by creative and explorative thought. When I’m stressed or anxious, my mind doesn’t have the room or space to think freely to get things done, and I end up bouncing around different tasks not getting anything done. And then there’s the whole dopamine addiction issue with doing a small amount of work then hopping on social media because you feel like you need the reward. Just me?

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 12. My family did not opt to put me on medication. I illegally discovered Adderall in college. Worked incredible. Got diagnosed after college & after having been fired from my first job. Passed the CPA exams on Adderall. Went off of it again. I do everything well at my job except for attention to detail within my excel files & emails. Will taking ADHD medication really fix this? Does anyone else have this issue and was it resolved by taking medication?
