Hi, I belong to the corporate bowl but I have snuck in to ask if anyone would be interested in assisting the Ukranian Crisis Legal Aid organisation that has been set up by a Hungarian law firm to pair up refugees and lawyers. The website is https://ukrainelegalaid.org and it was set up by KNP LAW Nagy Koppany Lencs & Partners (who I am not affiliated with). This is all pro bono. Feel free to PM me, especially if you are English qualified!
Stop. Doing. This.

Absolutely do not mention that you are pregnant. I’ve read horror stories about women who disclose this info before getting hired and you are not required to tell them. As for salary, I would wait to try to negotiate until an offer comes in
DO NOT TELL THEM.
Pro
If they've told you the salary range pre-screening, verify it when they ask:
Them: what's your desired salary range?
You: It seems the range is [blank] based on [info source]... is that accurate?
Them: Yes! (Hopefully, though I have had the experience of recruiters saying 'yea... but...')
You: Great! If we both determine I'm the best fit for the role, I'm sure we can find a number we're both happy with.
If they press for a more concrete number, say you don't know enough about the role to talk specific numbers at this stage. Emphasize that what you're really looking for in a salary is fairness rather than a certain number.
Don't negotiate anything until the offer stage. The salary question in the initial stages isn't meant to find out what you want to give it to you; it's designed to weed out candidates whose expectations are too high.
Just be mindful that you may not be eligible for a full paid leave as some companies have minimum employment requirements. You can find all that out in the offer stage, though. For now, that is your and only your business. And congrats!! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.
Thanks a lot!! 😊 Much appreciated!
No mention of pregnancy at all. I interviewed when I was 4 months and covered up! Did not get a call back from companies I disclosed it to
Thank you all for confirming my intentions of keeping it on the DL! Kinda felt wrong doing that but I gotta look out for myself!
It’s not a requirement to share, nor if you were showing are they legally allowed to ask.
OMG thanks and thanks for the script lol that really helps!
Don’t tell them you’re pregnant. If offered the position and if you’re taking it, tell them you’re expecting to take maternity/STD in 6 months upon acceptance.
Hold off on negotiations. But as an agency recruiter in my opinion you’re better off being transparent. Say you make 70k now and they told you the range is 80-90k. Well, does that work? Well, a 10k bump may be worth it, but maybe you know at 90k you’d be ready to accept the position. You’re better off getting a hard number in your head that you’re ready to make a move for. Cause if you just say the 80-90k range works for you, they won’t really know where your head is at to make a move. Do your research on roles you’re applying to, and get a number in your head base salary wise that’ll make you comfortable to take on a new position. And if that’s 90k base in this example, say you’re targeting 90k when they ask you
Tell them you’re pregnant when and if you accept. And give them hard dates on when you expect to be out. Also most places don’t grant maternity leave until after working for 12 months so you’ll either need to go unpaid or Short Term Disability anyway
And good. Stick to that number. And if the offer comes in lower, say you’re prepared to accept if the X number you discussed can be approved
