Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

Maybe it’s a sign that I’m better off without them? Who knows.
No matter who the firm is, if you don’t get a very good reason for the missed interview, you should take this as a sign of the partner’s commitment to you and their team. If they can’t make the time to meet with you now, it’s a sign they can’t manage their time and won’t in the future. Every firm has people like this. Avoid those people, not the firm
Totally unprofessional, good sign you should look elsewhere
Or honestly, the partner could be a total douchebag. Many will treat you like the proverbial piece of meat - had a job offer to my face and was then rejected by HR within 48 hours.
My worst interview was with KPMG. I interviewed with a director and a partner and found both to be pretentious, rude, entitled, and out of touch with their staff. No thank you
Agree with KPMG 1 - I like KPMG but there are definitely partners out there that don’t care (like all of the firms). Also a chance that they’re just unorganized and it’s nothing personal. That said, them blowing off your interview may be a symptom of other issues in that office.
I suggest going with your gut though... I’ve transferred offices and some of the issues i spotted on day one in a new office remained consistent for over a year.
Ha. Blame you for their error. My story was KPMG also- a general contempt for recruits.
Good call. There are pawn shops with more integrity than most kpmg offices - stick with EY, change offices or groups. There is nothing kpmg can offer that overcomes for the shitty brand.
What a shame people use this forum to make negative comments about KPMG or other firms. Each firm has their positives and negatives, and the strengths and weaknesses are actually team, practice, and office specific. These are probably the kind of people who speak negatively about other firms at recruiting events or during orals rather than highlighting the positives of their teams, practices or offices. When you make those comments you show your inexperience and unprofessionalism.
Wow go to the other Big 4 unless the partner emails and apologizes bc shit does happen
It could just be a misunderstanding. If the support staff don’t know how to answer, they may simply withhold the answer. The partner may have got their schedule mixed up or a higher priority may have come up (of course, rude not to communicate, but — partner). In short — I don’t think you have enough information yet. But I know it’s stressful. Maybe take this as an opp to show your tenacity?
Update: Receptionist called and left a VM. She said that they were expecting to meet me in person today and wanted an explanation why I didn’t show up. I politely replied back via e-mail (with the skype invite and confirmation from the partner) to drop out of the application process and wish them the best of luck.
@SM1 If there’s one thing I will never accept is to have my reputation and dignity thrown under the bus. Learned that the hard way.
Some more context, I waited for 45 mins in the conference call on skype expecting the partner to join.
You’re not exactly upgrading your firm by talking to KPMG. At least leave for a peer like pwc or Deloitte.
I’m interviewing at competitors because I need a change in work environment. Also just had a second interview for a really good opportunity in industry (last stage). Maybe it’s a sign that I’m ready for the the jump.
Good point EY4... What a total low integrity move by this KPMG partner to miss a meeting. I bet he also sexually harasses his coworkers too..
They also suck.... KPMG is kind of a joke.
Why would you want to go to KPMG?
@KPMG 1 I completely agree. However, each office has a responsibility to uphold the firm’s brand and image. An office’s mishaps impacts the firm’s overall image. I honestly had high hopes for the KPMG office in my region after my discussions with the SMs. It’s just unfortunate how admin, HR, and the Partner handled the hiring process.
