Boise. Portland. Minneapolis. Chicago. Cleveland. Baltimore.
Between the three you suggested I’m only familiar with Denver and Seattle. I’d pick Denver if between those two.
For the ones I listed I feel like they all have different things going for them but I would probably choose Baltimore or Boise. Each for different reasons.
Boston
Houston or dallas? I been in houston and so far so good
Seattle

Definitely Texas over any of those. Dallas and Houston are great, no income tax, relatively low cost of living, but good qualify of life. Happy to refer you need one.
Houston for “cooler weather” is a bold claim…
I moved to Washington during Covid from Southern California and love it. But I don't live in Seattle, I work remotely about an hour and a half west. Seattle has felt incredibly sketchy every time I've gone in, I would not live there and prefer not to visit.
Green year round, tons to do in the water, lots of good clean parks for kids, stays between 30 and 80 95% of the year, few days a year get into the 90s and 20s. On occasion above 100 and high teens.
There is definitely a duality to the year more than in California..March to October are amazing, but November to Feb are hard due to the darkness/daylight as well as the common rainy days.
Work wise, best thing that ever happened at the right time. Night and day raising my kids pre and post pandemic, not just the commute but the random daily interactions.
100% it does restrict advancement unless everyone is on an equal playing field. I'm in industry tax and I know there's a ceiling if I choose to stay where I'm at, most of my team is hybrid. It's a good balance right now between comp, WLB, remote situation. I might reevaluate once both my kids are in school.
That being said, I don't want the stress or hours that come with being a tax executive. I make enough to support my family on my own, save for retirement and work remotely.
Denver prices are very high. The salaries may not be equal with what you are expecting. Thus, you might have to reduce your overall expectations of where you live. The culture is okay, but if you get out of denver and go to the mountains, there are lots of physically active people enjoying life. I relocated and miss going to operate ski at three o'clock after skiing on a saturday or riding a bike up a mountain, no matter what you do in the mountains you're always physically fit.
