Hi everyone!!! Last year I put together a list of classrooms to exchange valentines with! We mailed 1 valentine to each class and included a picture if we could, and a few things about where we live and things we do!
I currently have 13 classes signed up! The more the merrier!!
We have classes CA, WI, PA, KS, TX, RI, MI, Canada, New Zealand.
I have a form to fill out if you are interested! I will email everyone the list probably at the end of the week if not sooner!

I don’t have windows and I hate the fluorescent lighting so I bought 3 floor lamps and keep them on instead of the bright lights. It’s so calm and peaceful in my room. All my admin always comment how great he ambiance is!
I got the floor lamps at Walmart. They were like 14/piece
Great for science demonstrations because it gets really dark. No distractions for students looking out of windows
string lights, lamps, flashlight fridays for teaching. Bring in plants and nature colors to create a less sterile environment.
I have been in a windowless classroom for 16 years and honestly I hate it! Sorry, not able to sugar coat it after this many years. One perk...great darkness for movies! I am jealous of those with fresh air option and natural light. My home has curtains, blinds and windows open all the time!! This helps me get through my school year.
One year I painted a fake one and put up curtains to make it look like a window.
Work in progress
if you start feeling the darkness you can always get an Ott light. we had them in my lab in college, made a huge difference in the winter
My son had a class like this. Make it fun or to fit your personality. You have more wall space. Students aren’t distracted with weather or anything happening outside. Add your own picture to the outside
In high school I had class in a room with no windows. My teacher asked the Art teacher to draw a bunch of windows on large poster board, a few for each season, and hung them up on the wall!
She also hung White Christmas lights up and had a few desk lamps so that she could turn off the lights during certain lessons and we could still see our papers!
I have a floor lamp and also found a light string with clothes pins on it. Not only can I display their work but I have some lighting as well. I also keep a lamp on my desk.
I have never had this, but my Sister has and she bought an old window, refurbished it, and put different outdoor scenes behind each pane of class. She got the creative genes in the family.
Yikes! I need windows as well, find a pic of the sun or pretty nature scenery.
This will be my first room in 22 years with a window. in my old rooms, I would make photo collages with family and friends.
I would add a large framed picture with a window and a garden/nature view. It helped a little with perspective and lifted the mood
I would create my own windows. Buy old windows and paint scenery. Change with the seasons
or ask the art teach to help!! I saw this in a magazine and it was brilliant.
If you have a smart board, create a window effect around it and play soothing music/nature images from the internet.
Was in a windowless room for 10 years and loved it! Loved the extra wall space! Put up a picket fence in a corner w a fake tree and decorated for the seasons - sunflower garland in summer, fall leaves for autumn, shamrocks around st Patrick’s day, hearts for Valentine’s Day, snowflakes in winter, etc
I made a window out of a bulletin board. Sometimes I rented to change it for the seasons. It wasn’t too bad, really.
My teammates and I ordered “window” wall stickers from Amazon. The beach for me, a stream for Jobie, & the woods for Matt. (They were under $10 each.)
