I love art picture books. I taught elementary art for 20+ years. Here are a few of my favorites: Roberto the Insect Architect (for architecture), Uncle Andy’s Cats (artist study), Lucy’s Collage (great intro to collage), Phillip in Monet’s Garden (artist study), Camille and the Sunflowers, and The Dot (great intro to art book).

I often open a lesson for K-2 with a good picture book. Students love "Dream Carver" for a Oaxaca patterned animal project. "The Spider Weaver" is great for Kente cloth projects. "Tar Beach" is inspiring, and pairs with story quilts. Funny books are a must for extra time to fill, I love the book "If..."

More wonderful funny books include "The Day the Crayons Quit" and "The Day the Crayons Came Home".

Aliens in Underpants! KG students got to create beautiful patterns on a large blank illustration of underwear! We laughed hysterically throughout the lesson. I miss those days!!!

Has any special education teacher left the classroom to go into admin work? Did you miss working one-to-one with the kids daily?

“If you’re not sweating by first hour, you’re not teaching”, “Don’t let me walk in the room and see you a$$ sitting down”, “ You should leave everyday exhausted” just a few quotes from our new academic supervisor. I find these extremely offensive, but since this is a supervisor any advice on how to handle this situation?

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year. Have a wonderful school year!! God Bless All❤️

Does anyone use Wit and Wisdom in their classroom, and have any advice? What are the pros and cons? We will be rolling it out in August.

We shouldn’t go back to the classroom this Fall. I got positive for COVID from just hugging my sister who was asymptotic. This is Day 5 after I started showing symptoms. The first two days were hell. The hardest thing about this virus is how it affects your mental state.

Has anyone had the conversation on how we get Ss and Ts ready for returning in the fall? I’m not talking about mask usage, hand washing times, physical distancing in classrooms, etc. I don’t think we can expect Ts and Ss to come back and just hop right into academics. Need sometime to process together, get some SEL, be face to face social again, etc. Just wondering if districts out there have gotten a head start on this task.

Looking for some MBA advice. Went to Indiana U and had mediocre GPA due to mental health struggles. Got medicated and saw a therapist and got a 4.0 my last semester. But still ended with 3.2 gpa. I am a good standardized test taker and am confident I can do well on GRE/GMAT. Given my poor undergrad GPA, am I a non-starter for an M7 MBA? Looking to improve myself as an applicant over the next year or so by seeking out leadership opps within and outside the firm. Any advice is appreciated!
