Is joining a startup as the second lawyer under a head of legal (rather than a GC) a risky career move? Currently a mid-level at a biglaw firm and have been told my long term prospects are very good if I stick around. The startup seems like a good opportunity, but worried a GC being hired in above the head of legal would make my position much less favorable.
TC would also be lower at the startup, though the company is well funded and seems likely to have an exit of some kind.

Do you incorporate into your classes/teachings the value of creativity and importance of language and literature as an art form? I'm thinking of starting to incorporate more free writing and even some relaxation/imagination exercises. Has anyone else done this?
How does one gain clarity about what to do with their career? I’m a tax manager, love client relations, business development, training/managing staff, recruiting, etc., but feel like the amount of technical work I have to do yet makes it hard to be successful in the areas I enjoy. I’m also finding that busy season doesn’t necessarily mesh with my ‘wants’ in life anymore as I’m a big skier, like going on spring break, etc. Any advice?
8 nights in Thailand worth it? Been there for 12 nights before but prob can only swing 8 this time around. Coming from NYC, thinking 3 nights total in Bangkok, 5 in Koh Lanta.
Anyone else only been there for around this amount of time and can tell me if it is worth it?

I have my retirement accounts with Vanguard. I found that Fidelity offers zero expense ratio index funds (FNILX, FZIPX, FZROX, FZILX). They look similar to VTI, VOO, etc. but don’t have any costs. What’s the catch?
Just curious- I have heard people are stunned by the amount a bank will loan them for a mortgage, although most people don’t take out something close to the limit. Anyone care to share what their mortgage application income was, how much they were approved for, and how much their actual mortgage was?

(24M) I have around 10k saved in my credit union savings account. Thinking about putting a decent amount in a high yield savings account like GS’s Marcus to start compounding interest. I’m not very knowledgeable in investing as I didn’t grow up with a lot or have parents who were money savvy. Does anyone have recommendations on how to navigate the investing landscape? Honestly it’s a little overwhelming and I just feel lost. Should I invest in CDs, index funds, start a Roth IRA ? So many optins
Does anyone rent out a home as an investment? If so I’d love to ask a couple questions about your experience please
Hey y’all! Figured I’d reach out here to hear people’s thoughts on the matter. Basically I’m looking at buying a home this summer, however with HMBradley rates being nerfed I’ve now found myself looking for a new place to store the down payment (~100k).
Any advice on where you would put it? Unfortunately can’t do I-bonds due to timing and the only other “savings account” option that has a high yield are stable coin accounts which themselves entail high to unknown amounts of risk.
