The only ones who get hurt riding a roller coaster are the ones who jump off. Don't panic and sell, everyone! Time in the market > timing the market.

I have NEVER seen anyone jump off a roller coaster. Ever! Since they have those belts you can’t open mid air! There are no seat belts when it comes to stocks though! So not sure the analogy is valid

The only ones who maximize returns are those who see the ups and downs ; get off and then jump back in. If you don’t think there is a correction in progress ; ride it through and be average at best.

Lost principal is gone, it doesn’t come back. The reasonable approach is to predefine criteria to sell. It is always the right time to sell for somebody and if nobody sold, there’d be nothing to buy.

Is joining a startup as the second lawyer under a head of legal (rather than a GC) a risky career move? Currently a mid-level at a biglaw firm and have been told my long term prospects are very good if I stick around. The startup seems like a good opportunity, but worried a GC being hired in above the head of legal would make my position much less favorable.

TC would also be lower at the startup, though the company is well funded and seems likely to have an exit of some kind.

Any advice on where you would put it? Unfortunately can’t do I-bonds due to timing and the only other “savings account” option that has a high yield are stable coin accounts which themselves entail high to unknown amounts of risk.
