Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

I didn’t realize layoffs could be a legitimate. What does that mean?
Layoffs are a result of market forces. If a company experiences a sudden shock, or has ignored those forces and needs a significant change in their workforce, often a consulting firm will be called in to help. judging a consulting firm by whether they advise on decisions about whether and how to lay off is kind of silly. It’s part of the business cycle.
Hopefully, a consulting firm’s involvement in a layoff process results in thoughtful changes that are implemented with no more than the minimum amount of pain inherent to the terminations. And hopefully that involvement helps ensure that the company has thoughtful long-term talent processes in place that are tied to market forces. As with any human process, the efficacy of such efforts will vary. Fair game to judge a firm or team through this lens.
There are no "investors" in D. It's people at the top squarely in the richest portion of Americans saying, we need more money let's cut thousands of people. The firm is not going to collapse leaving them on the books. Period. The income of the top 1% of the firm might drop a bit compared to last year. That's it. Profit motive from richest most secure people kicking the people who made them rich to the curb like dogs. And you expect no reaction? How about if consultants start deciding which partners to lay off, would there be backlash?
