I’d wait to get fitted for clubs until the spring. You should start with lessons so the instructor can give you drills to fix some common mistakes in your swing. Then it just takes practice. Once you feel you’re hitting the ball decent, then you can fitted for some basic clubs. All in maybe $1600-$1800 for an entire bag (putter through driver)
Definitely agree with this^^ I’d get a used set of irons for less than $600 and then a used driver/wedges separate from that. If you wanted to get something new right away you could splurge on the putter because getting better at your full swing won’t change your putting stroke. Then if you get the itch later down the line once you’ve had some lessons and gotten some rounds/practice on the range in, you can sell your first set and ball out for a club fitting. eBay and 2nd swing are great for used clubs if you know your approximate needs based on your height
Off season. Any other suggestions on how to get started? I also need to get some clubs and gear. Any thoughts on how much to spend to fit in (I don’t need to be the most outfitted, just want to be in the neighborhood of style)
Do not get fitted right now
