If you book as AA you get free seat selection. If you book at BA, you have to pay to select your seat. The fare can also be different depending on how you book it. Are you using an AA credit card? You might get more bonus points to book as AA.

I think that when you book it as a AA flight, you book the seat with aa but I’m not 100%.
If I fly from Dc to Europe, I go out of my way to fly Delta. They have flights out of Dulles and it’s worth it.
AA/BA have a transatlantic joint venture through OneWorld. Basically the same except for the seat/name on the side of the plane. Believe it’s all 777s for both of them on JFK-LHR so book whatever works best for your schedule.
