Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well?
How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.
Hi Fishes, Need your advice in choosing between the two. Confused between UBS and Northern Trust. This is for 8 years of experience in Data Engineer profile. CTC is almost same, I am looking to stay longer in my next role (4-5 years), so want clarity on WLB, projects and increment cycles. If you know about any of these 2 organisation, kindly share your input. Any help on this is much appreciated.

Do you see a therapist? With that free time you could be going 2-3x a week. I often think about how life changing it would be to have a stretch of time like that to really focus on mental health.
I hope you find that it helps! I’ve found that getting out to do shopping instead of doing it all online has been helping me a bit. I’m still selective and careful about where I go, but even walking around a Target (even with hand sanitizer and a mask) for a few minutes helps my mental health a lot.
Best advice is to get outside and get sunlight. Better if you can throw in some exercise too. I too was/is going through the same thing and being outdoors as much as i hate getting myself to do that, helped a lot with my mood and productivity.
OP, just posting to share I have been struggling a lot more with mental health lately too and it's also affecting my productivity and ability to focus. You're not alone. I literally was in such a depressive/anxious place mid week this past week that I only billed one hour by 6pm and had to spend the rest of the evening working.
Take the leave, see your therapist, recover and be good to yourself. I'm sorry you're experiencing this and I hope you'll have improvement soon.
Any time. We have to lift each other up more! For music, I find Chopin nocturnes and Scarlatti piano sonatas to be helpful, but there are lots of options.
First, I’m very sorry. Just because this is an awful time for everyone does not make what you’re going through any less difficult or painful. I hope you begin to feel some relief. My advice is to actually use your time fully. You may be challenged disassociating during this time of technology but try to turn off your emails while you are off. It will be easier to return if you’ve actually given yourself a break.
If you are drinking heavily, stop. Go run everyday. Went through a similar experience. The feelings you are having are out of your control. Was hospitalized for chest pain when it got so bad. You need to take care of the rest of yourself and it will improve the mental side as well. Also think it helps to find a significant other or friend. Not suggesting using someone to heal your pain, but a lot of this stuff goes away if someone/something is bringing you a lot of joy elsewhere.
