On a serious note, they’re competent and good, but it’s a grind. Full of former K&E/Latham partners doing large-cap LBO work. It’s materially different from their Boston PE / M&A group which is a bit more mid-market oriented. It’s still probably a better WLB than other PE M&A shops in DC.

like

not good, the Latham and K&E "partners" are NEPs who are strivers that are trying to make equity. they run through associates and have the kind of work pace that's needless and constant. terrible even for biglaw. avoid.

What should I expect during my call with Deloitte’s recruitment advisor? I received a verbal offer last week, and a meeting invite this week with the advisor. Is this typically where salary and signing bonus are negotiated? If so, can anyone share insights into the typical base range for experienced hires going into Consultant positions (2yrs experience w/ undergrad)?

Considering short time-frame to prepare, which strategy should I follow? Are these styles very different?

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.

Hi I am in process of getting offer from Netherlands and Germany for Devops Engineer. The salary quoted by NL is €65k (amsterdam) and Germany is €70k(munich).

Currently I have 30L package in India having 11 years of experience.

Is it worth to go? Which one to go?
Is the quoted salary a good one for a couple?

I am planning to negotiate salary for extra €10-15k as the cost of living is high over there.

Please suggest..

Recent lateral (6ish months). On pace for 2000. Partners keep asking me if I’m liking the quality/type of work I’m getting and telling me to let them know if I feel overwhelmed by my (very manageable) workload. Am I crazy or do they think I’m going to leave for another firm or something six months in?

Do the partners you work with get to see your self-evaluation or does it only stay with the review committee? If the former, how soon after you submit your self-evaluation do the partners get to review it?

I just finished a big jury trial with a senior partner (SP). There were co-parties w/separate counsel. SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. SP did a few parts but went rogue and did things that were offensive/risky/bad for client. It became clear that SP is not performing like SP used to and may be a liability. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.

Is your firm treating 12/26 and 12/27 as firm holiday since the 24th and the 25th are during the weekend this year? it feels like every survey about working from home is (poorly) designed to answer the useless question "would you rather work from home or from the office." I submit that the set of people who prefers to have only one of those two options, always and forever, is the null set. which means it DOES NOT MATTER because the correct answer is always going to be "make both possible." you're welcome, HR departments everywhere.
