The culture around PTO on my 6-7 person team is one where: 1) no one (besides me) takes more than 1-2 days off a year, 2) people frequently brag about how little time off they take…”I only took one day off for my child being born”, 3) people make comments that I’m “always on vacation” (in the last 2.5 years working at my company, I’ve taken cumulatively ~4 weeks off). Team workflow is deal-based so it’s difficult to plan in advance for taking time off as deals often come up unexpectedly. Cont…
BCG fish - does putting NY vs NJ on my application impact my chances? Any big culture difference or other differences to highlight?
I think it’s sad that so many biglaw attorneys feel somehow trapped, for whatever the reason. The culture is so toxic, the work is backbreaking and the life style is crushing.
Is there an edge with applying to M7 from a non-target UG background where you excelled/stood out greatly? Or are target schools still a culture within admissions?
Hi Fishes A bit off topic but relevant. Did anyone hear abt TekFog & Persistent Systems Limited ? Did they develop it ? What's going on ? I wanted to apply (location preference) but am worried now if company is into these sort of unethical activities even more so if they don't even know about it. Does anyone has any insights into it beyond the company blog post claiming they are not involved. Also how is the work culture there, are these sort things even believable for such company ?
I have a hard time getting along with my future mother in law. She likes to talk about money, judging people/me and I never heard her compliment others. I understand it maybe her culture and background make her that way. But every time after she visited us I am extremely unhappy. She is picky about food I make, always want things changed in my house etc. Herself is not wealthy like she acts so maybe that’s why she comes off that way? She visits us quite often and I don’t know what to do…
How’s the culture at Oracle?

Thinking about moving to a big city with the following preferences. I am thinking about Dallas, philly, or Chicago. What’s your experience living in those cities? Is there any other city I am missing? 1. Growing economy and population 2. Great food scene and things to do as a young professional 3. Relative LCOL can’t afford housing in NY, SoCal, etc. 4. Diversity of culture especially a bigger Chinese presence

VP at firm who is a strong sponsor offered to give warm intros at funds where he knows senior folks (Wharton alumni). I appreciate the sentiment and assume it’ll be informational but I have no idea what to ask these senior folks nor what to expect from the convo. I’d ask associates about the firm culture, their past deals, the pe landscape, and their responsibilities and say to keep in touch if there are open opportunities, but what should I be asking VPs and above? And what CTA to end with?
Any experience/knowledge about McKinsey implementation practice? How is the culture, pay and development opportunities compared to the traditional practices?McKinsey & Company

I currently work as a PPC account manager for an agency I LOVE. The people, culture, work life balance is unbelievably great. A recruiter recently reached out to me on LinkedIn and offered me a Director of PPC role. Obviously I want the promotion, but I can’t imagine leaving my current company because of how good they have been to me. Any advice???
I am looking to gain certification or other credentialing in diversity and inclusion, not only because it would look good on my resume both for future job-search purposes and also to become better educated in this area, which is growing in importance. I looked at SHRM's "Inclusive Workplace Culture Specialty Credential" and got a bit of "sticker shock" at the cost - $1,655.00 for members. Does anyone have other suggestions on training/credentialing in this area?
Any tips going from a structured culture to a very unstructured company? Feeling very overwhelmed managing this change

How can I invest more and be smarter with my money? Some facts: Age -24 Salary - 103,000, Rent - 1850$ in New York. Seems like every few months I have a unavoidable big purchase and my net worth is just stagnant. People making less and younger than me are saving and investing more which is so cool. How can I do the same?

Traveling to Copenhagen. Any recommendations on hotels (Marriott preferably) and restaurants? Thanks in advance!
Genuine question: why do people bill over 2100 in this market? I can see how wanting to be a “good associate” could get you to agree to go slightly above your hours requirement, but don’t understand how people end up billing 2500+ hours… do you really think you’d get fired if you said no to more work? Is someone legitimately forcing you to work that much? Don’t see how extra bonuses are worth it either.
For a customer success manager with 3 YOE, what’s the expected compensation? Experience working with 100+ accounts to also be in a dedicated role with top 5 ARR client.
We pitched a client last year. They didn’t award us the business. It’s now a year later, they already fired the winner of that RFP & now their internal team literally just launched our exact concept!?

Responsible me is trying to look out for future me by maxing out my 401K and other retirement accounts. Lately, I've been having doubts about this approach. I don't have kids and never will. I am not interested in living too far past 70. Probably have enough in my retirement accounts now/soon to make it comfortably to 70. With 30+ years ahead of me till 65, do I cut back on maxing out? Sorry for the post holiday cheer....
I keep making mistakes at work because I am depressed and unable to focus or really care about my work right now. I’m not formally diagnosed so I’m not sure what to do and feel like if I talk to HR it’ll be a nightmare. Even worse, what if they have me go to a doctor to get officially diagnosed with a “disability” and the doctor doesn’t think I’m depressed? How is it that I am having literal anxiety about whether or not I’m “clinically” depressed
