McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

San Francisco is overwhelmed with homelessness, drugs, and crime. If you're going to pay a lot of money to live somewhere, pick New York because they at least make an effort to keep the city clean
G1 Honestly, most of SF’s hygiene issues are concentrated around Civic Center/Tenderloin. It’s generally fine elsewhere
Both are plagued with the typical problems of American cities (homelessness, expensive housing, etc.). Both have tons of great food and culture.
But SF has better weather and the people are more of the mind that you work to live, not live to work. Much better outdoor activities in the Bay and the area surrounding the city itself is much better in the Bay imo (East Bay/Peninsula/North Bay >>>>>>>> Brooklyn/Queens/Jersey City)
Lived in SF and have spent lots of time in NYC and while I love both, I’ll choose SF/Bay all day.
Well can't agree with D1. Lived in SF and NYC, just don't click with the SF culture.
As someone who’s lived in both, NYC >> SF. Much more to do and see in the city (if we’re doing an apples to apples comparison, so not looking at the entire Bay Area, just SF), better fine dining, and less aggressive homeless. Oh, and much cleaner (there’s a lot of human piss and poo, plus needles, all around here).
It’s gotten so bad that last week, I saw this spray painted on someone’s apartment wall (exterior).
NYC>SF
Bay Area>>New York outside Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn
Coke vs weed
NYC if you want culture. SF if you want a more relaxed environment.
NYC>>>SFo
SF if you (rightfully so) don’t want to be around people from NY
Kinda laughable how of all the things to ding SF for, culture is one of them (not clicking with it is fine, more for those who said a lack of it). Really? SF is a cultural hotbed. If your only experience in SF has been in the Tech Bro areas of SoMa, then sure but cmon. Mission? Richmond? GGP? Chinatown? List goes on. Not better (or worse) than NYC, but saying SF has any lack of culture is just wrong
