Anyone hiring buyside analyst in Toronto?
Hello fishes🐠. Can anybody guide me on the dress code followed in the BlackRock London office? Thank you email? Would not send it. For what are you thanking the interviewer? I typically find I am thankful if I interview someone who is a strong candidate. Receiving thank you notes will not have any bearing on the outcome. If anything could be seen as slightly negative (if that). Just my personal opinion.
Why would it be seen as a slight negative? Having been on the other side of the table, it’s more of a check box thing. Not sending it would be a slight negative imo.
I always send TY emails the next morning at 6 or 7 so it’s one of the first things in their inbox in the morning
Doesnt harm to send thank you note imo. It definetly wont have a negative bearing on the interviewer’s mind. It can either be neutral or positive. You can send the thank you note either after 5 pm or next morning.

I find myself often interviewing multiple people on the same day and quite honestly it all begins to muddle together. 1) Sending a note helps me remember you. 2) If you’re a mediocre candidate and you send while another similarly ranked candidate does not it can only help your case.
In my experience I receive more thank you notes from weak candidates. Might not be representative, the last 5 hires I have been involved in I did not receive a single thank you email from the candidates we hired. This is in Europe. Maybe it explains my bias
I personally think thank you notes are a waste of time. I’ve basically made my mind up already during or at the end of the interview.
It might be more helpful if you’re applying to a program alongside a ton of candidates or if the interviewer is not the hiring managers and vetting candidates. But otherwise, they’re generally a waste of everyone’s time
