Recruiters really do behave like fuckboys sometimes...,,
SD thats awesome! A friend was ghosted at a big agency and after three interviews, they sent a physical one sentence letter informing him they went with someone else. Then when he won a bunch of awards and rose to CD, they reached out. He mailed the same recruiter that same letter informing her he went with someone else. 😂
When they treat you like crap early, they're doing you a favor. I'd much rather learn about the toxic culture of a place by seeing it in the recruiting phase than six months into a new job.
Plus, you get to call out whiny companies. I was on a panel about talent with a guy from a firm who ghosted me years ago. When he started whining about how hard it is to find talent, I took great pleasure in pointing out that his agency has a notorious reputation for treating potential recruits like crap and told my story.
He didn't like it very much, but the audience did. We live in a world of accountability now, and these crappy tactics won't survive.
This exactly. I made it through two interviews for a job I was unsure if I wanted, did the appropriate thank you follow ups, and ghosted. And they reached out to me! It takes 2 min for a status email. And now, if another opportunity arises from the company, I won't be inclined to look into it. If this is how they treat potential employees, it can only get worse.
SrD1 you are my hero.
It’s even better when you ask and they say, “let me check with the team,” and then they don’t.
I got ghosted after three interviews with ICF Olson. I wasn't even sure I wanted it, but thought I had really good rapport with everyone. I specifically asked for feedback and was ignored by two people. Super unprofessional, and now I would never go there. If you can't get basic etiquette right, there's probably much bigger things that are also not right.
