hey folks, I am going to join Oracle ossi in Hyderabad location. I have never been to Hyderabad, and will be relocating. Please guide on what would be good areas to look for rent. Also, what would be rent like for 2/3 bhk. Ideally my budget for rent would be <25k. Initially I will be going but in future my family will join me once I am settled. Any points to note or any other gotcha to keep in mind ? Please suggest.

Chief
honestly you're not far off.
While I agree with the comments that a 500k income cannot really be considered middle class anywhere (not even pre tax), there is something to be said about how much money is unfortunately necessary to afford a comfortable (not even luxurious) life in NYC.
By comfortable I mean, normal sized apartment (i.e., not a shoebox), decent apartment (i.e., not 109 years old with peeling floors), safe/well located neighborhood (i.e., not have to spend 10+ hours of your week commuting), ability to send maybe one child to a decent school (I am sorry, but our taxes do not show in our public school system in the city and the few good schools are impossible to get into), ability to go out a 1-2x a week with your loved ones (movies, average priced restaurants), travel once or twice a year (economy), maybe, maybe if money allows an average car to get out of the city occasionally.
Yes, most of us manage making a whole lot less, but let’s be clear, we are MANAGING. It is not absurd for OP to make that statement. What is truly absurd is that someone has to make THAT MUCH to have a life that should otherwise be standard, normal, accessible to all.
I didn’t say I would not be enough, Airbnb 1. I said it would, however not much else would be left to go around. My point is that I find it disheartening for such a large sum of money to be necessary to live a life that should otherwise be standard and accessible to all.

This is an absurd take. The median household income in Manhattan in 2021 was $127k. The mean household income was $151k. Making 3.25x the mean income and still thinking your middle class if delusional.

That assumption is based that the median household is the center of the bell curve and that there’s no subsidized housing and people barely scraping by living with roommates. This is why no one trust McKinsey anymore. Out of touch.

“Middle class” doesn’t mean what you think it means.

McKinsey - not a troll job at all for school. NYC public schools have a terrible record.
This is one reason middle class families leave NYC in huge numbers to the suburbs.
To get an equivalent education (as NJ/CN suburbs) you have to spend $60k+ or be very lucky that they qualify for elite programs, eg G&T.
In my middle class co-op almost no kids go to public school. It’s either private or they leave soon after kids turn 5.
One super-progressive mom, deep love private schools, teachers unions, etc. Sent her kids to public for 2 years then couldn’t bear it any more. Switched to private.
Schools in NYC are a disgrace, and don’t serve middle class at all. Huge taxes and most of the schools are horrible.
Nah, you need 500 million to be middle class.
With 500k, you can only eat at Carbone once a week instead of every meal.
because then Manhattan would be empty

How many $7 coffees are you buying? Maybe stop those and save the $ ?
because there are people who would pay it, supply demand, if no one pays at $7, believe me, the price will drop
You realize Manhattan extends above 106th st right?
the fact that you need to go out of your way to point it out means that people don’t consider it Manhattan in every day conversations, but if you want to split hair go ahead
Just move out of Manhattan, $150K goes a long way in the Hudson Valley let alone $500K. I can help with that www.arnoff.com gday@arnoff.com
Lmfao these numbers get more silly every month. Y’all know there are people living in Manhattan making 1/10th of this right?

Let me know when you break 750
“In manhattan” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Across the Hudson or the East things get much more affordable very quick.
