Today felt like a nonstop train wreck. I couldn’t get any of my planned work even started due to the constant calls and teams messages. Thankfully part of my FTE is allocated to “firefighting” but some weeks it feels like that’s all I do. What do you like to do to keep things organized when you can’t find more than 15 minutes to focus?

I’m just glad my manager understands and plays interference where he can

I like to do time blocking so that I'm not constantly having to be reactive and I can actually get my work done. It's not always possible and sometimes I have to be available to put out fires, but having scheduled deep focus times is super crucial for my work/life balance and ability to get my actual work done, not just everyone else's work lol.

Yeah that makes complete sense
When I don’t have concurrent projects I can block it easier but for now my projects kind of block out my day by default (endless meetings)

I also do time blocking so I can get things done. It does get crazy but thankfully I have a great team who also helps out and runs interference. It really takes a village.

It is so difficult to do your job when this happens. Like many said blocking out time on your calendar makes all the difference. I did that several times this week and people respected it

The CW that I’d work the longest with (for about 3 years) had just being promoted to ECD on a big cool shop after very good run. Meanwhile I was just promoted to ACD at an OK medium shop after a very torturous run that almost made me quit ad life for good.

Sometimes I wonder what the hell did I do wrong.
