PSA: background checks for Amazon are taking in excess of 5 weeks. My friend accepted a position with Amazon 5 weeks ago and gave her 2 week notice right away. She’s now on 3 weeks without pay. She is a single mom and has an emergency fund but it is killing her going through so much savings all because Amazon can’t use a reputable company to process background checks.

My ultimate future goal is to work in vulnerability management or penetration testing. Is it possible to switch to one of these roles coming from a cyber strategy background if I learn the scanning tools, linux, networking, etc in my own time? Or will nobody take a chance on me once I’m 5 years into my career? Or will they but my salary will go down significantly as I’ll kind of be a newbie again?


Since George Floyd's murder and the sudden Corporate America "wokeness," I (black guy) have been routinely contacted by unacquainted Partners who explicitly state something to the effect "Client X wants diversity, so we'd like you on this deal..." It really comes across as tone deaf and completely patronizing. I appreciate the efforts to diversity (albeit forced), but Partners really need to learn how to not be so supercilious in the approach. You don't have to overtly state that I'm the quota.

Hi, I got selected in wipro. I have worked in 3 organization till now. So in my first organization my last working day was 23rd oct 2017 and for my 2 nd organization my joining date is 25 sept 2017....these dates are overlapping because my 1st organization had vacation concept(bench without pay)..... So i served notice period there and my second organization asked me join immediately. Will this overlapping affect my bgv in wipro? Everything is genuine. Any suggestions?

Been on FMLA / short term disability for 3 months and doctor recommended 1.5 months extension. My firm refused the extended leave but we’re unable to provide reasons what the under hardship for the firm is. They are pressing me hard for alternative ada accommodation (anything but continuous leave) so I can get back to work. If not they will terminate me next day. Is it legal?
