Toxic IT Job Destroyed My Mental Health. Now I'm Stuck Between Finding Another Job and Doing a Master's.
I quit my IT job after years of low pay, 12–14 hour workdays, and a toxic work culture. I often worked until 11:30 PM, came home, ate dinner, and slept. For 2–3 years, I barely spoke to my parents because I was always exhausted. Now I'm stuck between finding another job or pursuing a Master's. Has anyone been through this? Which path helped you recover and grow?.

I come from a pure healthcare background and have minimal finance skills/experience. Want to eventually get in healthcare investing in a MM PE fund.

Is there anyway that I can start to make moves on this, while at my Big 4? Who are the best types of folks to reach out to at my Big 4?

Just how bad would it be to quit without a two week notice? I’ve been bait & switched into a horrible role, overworked to the point of having medical problems, and no amount of diplomatic talks with my manager has improved the day to day. My mental health and my personal relationships have been on a steady decline.

For those who were diagnosed as an adult can you provide some insight into how you were able to obtain a diagnosis. I went to my primary care dr who referred me to another dr who specialized in mental health. He asked me about 5 questions before telling me I should see a neuropsychologist for an official assessment. The referral he gave me is super pricey and apparently isn’t covered by insurance. I found an Austin young professionals group, but it’s almost entirely realtors and loan people. Which is fine, but I’m looking for more typical networking professionals groups.

I liked the Project management institute, but I’m looking for more. Either General professional, finance, tech, or healthcare focused ones would be ideal.

Thoughts on leaving PA primarily due to the metrics based culture (utilization, dtc, use of X digital tool, revenue, margin, etc). I find this aspect of PA stressful and exhausting but not sure if this is something you just get used to. Currently a manager and seems like the metrics just change over time / don’t get easier.
