Cosco Scenera is great, ultralight, economical seat. Kid seats have to go in the window so that means a middle for you. Or you can skip it, but I find kids are more comfortable and nap better, not mention safer, in the car seat. Bring lots of snacks, lots of non-noise making toys with , iPad if you’re ok with the screen time (we do full brain fry for flights), and a heap of patience.
Get the FLY TOT!
I’m so jealous I can’t use one myself.
I’ll also take any advice for traveling with child solo
Also make sure that they eat and drink during takeoff and landing to help minimize ear pain during pressure changes. Be prepared to change their diaper right at your seat. Not all airplanes have some type of changing table available.
An umbrella stroller that you can gate check is good as well. You can contain the child when needed in the airport, plus it makes for a good way to transport them through the terminal while carrying other bags.
Idk if applicable for 2 year olds but I bought a Doona 3-in-1 for traveling with our 9 month old and it has been worth every penny.
2nd vote for cosco scenera
Third vote for the scenera. We just used it this week for a flight with our 17 month old. Toys, screen time, and food/milk during takeoff and landing. Good luck!
Just looked it up. Did you bring a full car seat onto the airplane and strap it to the seat? Is that allowed? Does it fit?
I’ve seen straps that will wrap around the seat and go over the kid’s shoulders...

Not many fit rear facing. Mostly you’re keeping the kid comfy, restrained, and age from turbulence.
