Trump keeps talking about bringing back manufacturing but no one is talking about all of the service and internal support jobs leaving to India. This is the real threat as a huge portion of US workers are heavily reliant on the service sector. I keep seeing jobs being outsourced and it makes me sick seeing so many opportunities lost for US citizens from corporate greed. No one’s content with what they have. They all want more more and more.

Disagree as those jobs are the jobs that will easily be automated by AI (us tech firms with a solid advantage right now). Manufacturing jobs will at some point become automated but much further down the road and US companies are behind. Regardless, tariffs are not the answer to address this. We need to incentive autonomous manufacturing here.

AI = All Indians

For US consulting folks our bench is overflowing with talent, yet projects remain elusive. Adding insult to injury, our sales teams are battling fiercely, often resorting to dangerously low bids just to secure deals. The unspoken truth? If they win, the strategy is clear: offshore the work, leaving our domestic consultants sidelined.

Let’s ignore Trump’s voters who are in the countryside, maybe they don’t know better, although if they’re farmers they’ll be the first to be affected by all the ridiculous cuts by DOGE; but I’ll never be able to understand those white collars, especially consulting folks who would vote for Trump. So yall really believe in bringing back manufacturing jobs (which have been automated) while services/consulting are outsourced?

What do you mean? the outsourcing is to resolve a talent “pipeline” issue! It’s would never be to pay people $10/hr and bill their services out at $300/hr while laying off stateside workers. Are you crazy?

Yup. h1bs and student visas are also a huge problem

like

Companies cannot sponsor h1b unless they can prove to department of labor that they are not able to find a qualified candidate for a role. They do this through perm certification and prevailing wage.
Just coz some company wants to sponsor h1b does not mean they get to, thats why most companies wont even consider an applicant who needs sponsorship as it is time consuming and expensive, which it should be

This began under the previous administration years ago. For instance, number of accountants were (and still are) dwindling, Demand for higher salaries, 100% remote work, less hours, Employees wanting "more and more" created an opportunity for other human beings across the globe who can also work remotely for 40% the cost and offer same if not better quality of work while being willing to work more than 40 hours a week for an exempt position.

funny

Your argument seems sound until the “offer the same if not better quality of work”. I have never seen “same of not better quality of work” through my years in consulting. Some are good and that’s about it. And that applied to all skillset - coding, managing, communicating, technical writing, ux designing, presenting/strategizing… my friend who is a mechanical engineer working in oil & gas has the same experience with offshored engineers.

I talked about it . I talked to a damn recruiter & potential employer about it but they didn't care. that's first thing trump should stop - to have those corporates , big firms, mid firms, giving jobs or India or phillipines ( tax ^ audit) because these make more than manufacturing jobs. they've been making Americans poor for years and they' can't see it thru yet
soon those Indians will come here and take managers upper managers once they got enough in India. that needs to stop also . unbelievable. those employers need to share profit with Americans , not with outsiders who don't pay tax to our system or spend their money to help out economy! simple

Trump accomplished 85%+ of Project 2025 goals already.

US is the second largest exporter in the world.

Exporter or importer? The US does export educated people who have advanced degrees. Many are going back to their country of origin after having gained the requisite education to start an industry back home. Look at the Asian countries such as China, they have a high level of PHD's graduating from many top universities. These folks are taking some of the top jobs from the US. Additionally, the talent for many top jobs in the US does not exist here by natives. This is why companies outsource...

There is no plan

I agree. Try putting 100% Tariffs on outsourced services! These would be the easiest jobs to bring back!

We really need to go after our elected officials hard on the offshoring/visa/greencards. They need to be stopped. One of the reasons why blue collar work is being shilled so hard is to replace Americans with indians because the indian performance standards are much lower. If we do not address this now, things will get even worse.

It doesn't matter where you stand politically either, we need to let both the Democrats and Republicans know we do not want offshoring or our jobs being taken by visa/green card holders. The job shortage is only to get worse and we need to start sending the visa holders back.
