Try “Lock and Key” assignments. “Do this part first to unlock the second part.” The deadline keeps students (most) on task. Use a fun stamp to stamp the assignment that unlocks the next step. Play Mozart in the background.

I am planning on asking for a raise in my base salary and I am unsure what the market price would be for my skills at a staffing agency. I am in the top producer at my company with over 50 producers. I generate an average of $120k in GM per quarter. I am approaching my first year end review and I am currently at a base salary of $70,000 and I have 3 years of prior experience in the industry. What should I be asking for in this situation?

Additional Posts in Classroom Management Hacks (that may or may not work)

We can’t have classroom management without taking care of ourselves first. Rest. Even if it’s for 2 minutes. We close our eyes and reset.

Has anyone tried breathing exercises with their students to help them calm down at the start of class?

likeuplifting

Start each class with a few seconds of stillness. It takes consistent practice. Most students will blurt something silly out after about 4 seconds. Expect it and smile. After time is up ask students to notice what they were doing during that time. No shame. Notice and strive to be more still next.

1. Hands, feet, mouth, arms, legs still (a veritable challenge)
2. Close the eyes.
3. Long exhales to bring in the calming chemical acetylcholine.

To put it plainly, why don't we educators invest in our professional development?
