Personally I’d regret it if I didn’t. But do what makes sense for you and your career.
I don’t have kids, so I can’t speak from experience but the window to pass all 4 exams is 30 months instead of the old 18 month window. Figure out a plan that would allow you time to study during less busy seasons that works for your family! It’s a large undertaking but doable if you can just carve out a few hours a week to get through the materials. You’ll probably never be any less busy than you are right now, so putting it off won’t make it better. Good luck!!!
I’m in the same spot. It’s so hard but I know I will regret it if I don’t do it soon.
You can do it. I did it with 2 kids under 5, in public accounting, and passed all 4 parts in 6 months. The faster you get it over with, the faster you get to sit back and enjoy usually a pay bump, promotion and whatever else you can get with those 3 letters.
To tell you the truth, no clue. I was tired of being passed over because I did not have my cpa. I studied on my train ride in and out of the city, during lunch, after the kids went to bed and over the weekends. I had no life for those 6 months. What helped me the most is that I did have 13 years of experience by then in tax, audit, and client accounting services so the broad knowledge helped alot. Review everything but only focus on what you don't know.
