Your problem is the framing, not the experience. Ditch ‘family entertainment’ completely from your resume and LinkedIn. Call it ‘Event Operations’ or ‘Project Coordination.’ Lead with the scale and deliverables first—‘Managed 10+ concurrent vendor relationships and logistics for events up to $X budget’ or whatever the actual numbers are. The industry doesn’t matter nearly as much as the skills. Also, start grinding for your PMP or CAPM certification. That’s the fastest way to make recruiters stop seeing ‘entertainment’ and start seeing ‘project management.’ You’re asking how others did it, but most people just did the work of reframing their experience instead of waiting for someone to tell them the magic words.
This is a solid question because I’m wondering the same haha. And reading your experience sounds like you definitely have what it takes to be a great Project Manager.
I agree with WACO1 that is exactly what I was coming to say.
