I grew up poor and was obsessed w financial security. After investing my blood, sweat and tears into my career for years, I’ve decided I don’t care about my career or earnings as long as I have enough to support my family. We are happier than ever making less and saving little. I wasn’t there when my mom was sick and died because I was working and my employer didn’t allow me to be in a mental headspace to be a good person for my family. I can never change that but I can be better going forward.

Has any one went from reinsurance back to insurance? The money is great and all but the W/L balance isn’t. Has anyone else felt the same?

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??

I work in Florida where the Parental Rights law concerning gender theory and sexuality in k-3 is currently being labeled the "Don't Say Gay Bill". I’m so scared to let a relationship that gives me anxiety go because I’m 36 F and feel like I’m not going to find anyone else. He’s not a horrible person, but he can be inconsistent. When I bring it up to him he says he’ll try harder but then always goes back to default. I share my first property with a family member which is my primary home. If I buy a second property (and keep the first property) and live there, does that second property now qualify as my primary home?

Under contract to buy my first home - house hacking a triplex. Property has been leased by the same three tenants for the last 5+ yrs, rents haven’t been raised since they moved in. Market rents have risen 70-100% in the same timeframe. All seem like ideal tenants (retired and take great care of the units) but I’d like advice on how to approach the rent increase conversation. Rents don’t make/break my mortgage payment but I’m leaving a lot on the table if I don’t increase significantly.

Looking to buy a vacation home on the west coast not in a major city. West coast so it doesn’t take too long to get there. Could consider other areas, but don’t want to spend too much time traveling there. Budget is under $700k for 3 bedroom, at least 2k sqft. Any ideas?

The value is now over 400K and I have an equity of over 150K. We are thinking of moving to a different state.Should we rent this place ($2400/month) and with recent refinance my mortgage will be $1600/month(inclu pay all) or sell it to pull out equity for the new home in a different state? FYI: we have over 100K in cash to down payment.
