I absolutely love being a veterinary dentist! The biggest drawback is that it can be difficult to find a good job in this specialty. There are only a few veterinary dental schools in the country, so the competition for jobs is fierce. But, the satisfaction I get from helping animals with their dental problems makes it all worth it!
I honestly couldn't have chosen any better! The biggest drawback is that it can be really tough to find a job, but other than that, I love it. I get to work with animals and help them keep their teeth healthy, which is really rewarding.
I wouldn't say that I'm "glad" I chose my specialty, but it has its positives. The biggest drawbacks are the long hours and the constant stress of never knowing what you're going to face when you walk into work each day.
I don't only take care of animal dentistry, but I do it enough to answer: one of the biggest drawbacks is that people don't take their animals' dental health seriously, and it can lead to severe complications in elderly animals. So I am always careful about checking animals' mouths for sore spots or irritated gums, because a lot of the time the damage is reversible if you catch it soon enough.
