I would have!
Same
If it makes a difference I’m a discipline head and in our agency’s leadership team. Love the responses, thanks everybody. I think next time I’m in a pinch I’ll do it - love being able to set that example for other women and those on my team. Just needed the encouragement, wasn’t sure if I was being crazy 😜
Yes, please set this example!
If I was in that meeting I would have been so distracted by an adorable sleepy baby, but yes, as a mom myself, I think I would’ve brought a sleeping baby in. As long as they’re not disruptive, no big deal!
Nope, I don’t think I would bring my baby into the office. I really like the divide between home/baby and office. I would be too distracted by my baby if he was with me in the office
Being the baby! Matter of fact my without apology. Walk in like it’s a done deal
Tough question, because you feeling of freedom often hinges on your level of seniority.
As a leader within my recent agencies, I err on the side of modeling inclusion so I have brought my kids when care has fallen through.
I hope people on my team would feel comfortable doing that in a pinch based upon the behavior I model.
I ended up letting him snooze for 15 and dropping him off quickly but highly considered going into work wearing him and letting him sleep through the meeting and then dropping him next door after. I hesitated last minute because I felt self conscious about it - or maybe worried it was inappropriate? Curious - would you have brought the baby in?
(If it makes a difference I work at a very casual Brooklyn based, dog friendly agency with lots of new parents).
I wouldn’t, but I wouldn’t judge someone who did. I did once teach a marketing class to some parenting-based businesses hooked up to a breast pump, though 😂
We worked with an agency once who let an employee bring a baby to client meetings. It was refreshing, but also the focus of the meetings became the baby and not the work — since it’s unfortunately so uncommon. Babies are different, but not sure most would sleep through all that talking. Tough call, but give it a whirl next time and see what happens. At least you will model and start to normalize it.
