Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I was once offered $350k TC. I’m at max range for the role. I told them I’m not signing unless I’m paid $500k. I got an offer for $500k.
The trick to negotiation is willing to walk away.
That's awesome. I agree 100%. Do you mind if I ask what experience and degree you have? I want to go back to work, but I've been on disability since 2017. I'm divorced and barely making it. I have years of experience.

Yea it’s good to negotiate. And $10k is not a lot more. So it’s a reasonable ask.

Do you feel you deserve $175k?
If yes, then negotiate.
If no, don’t negotiate.
I agree with you! Weigh it all out and try to be realistic.
It really depends on how you ask for the extra money. They obviously want you at a certain salary, and you can ask them whether requesting an additional 10k is workable in their salary structure. They might up the ante, meet you half way, or tell you that $165k is their best offer.
I don’t like being pushed into a corner, and I don’t believe in pushing someone else in the corner. I’ve been on both ends and have received ultimatums as an interviewer and an interviewee. Most people prefer this approach. When pushed into a corner, I cut off negotiations, but when given a counteroffer, I will give it proper consideration.
If this is for a role involving selling/account management/revenue generation of any kind, you better negotiate. My first sales manager told me he was glad I countered because it was indicative of how I would handle negotiations in the role.
Doesn’t hurt to ask
Doesn't hurt to ask I suppose but I wonder if the salary you looked up was higher due to the cost of living where it was posted?

No go for it. $10k is not an extreme amount. Good luck!
