Sadly this kind of behavior is all too common in the community, esp if you’re a POC. Over time I’ve learnt to not let it bother me, but it still sucks.

The co-host is just a rude person. Frankly, I’d ignore it. For hilarious after thought, I was at a pride event and this drag queen whom I’ve met socially a few times (I’m a cisgender white gay male) said I look so fresh—had I just gotten out of rehab? I do look good, but that comment made me laugh. And no, I haven’t just gotten out of rehab. But it was funny. Point: Don’t sweat stuff like that.
I’m also a POC and have dealt with racism from the (mostly white) gay community. I found the people in my life who love me for me and don’t give a shit about that and fuck all the others that do. As you get older it’s easier to learn to let that stuff go. You’re no longer trying to fit in and people please.
Don’t let the micro-aggressions overtake your macro goals.
It’s a microcosm where only a few of us would understand. Keep on killing them with your success and kindness. I became an evil cunt after volunteering with the gay community and that backfires. Working my way back to being a good person.
Oddly enough, I had to chance to kill someone with silence and confidence. A friend of friend met me when I was broke as a joke, made snide comments, has some physically bullying behavior (shoulder checking me) that I told him to fuck off a long time ago. But, I was able to buy front row tickets to a show and was looking good and said hello to my friend. Saw him, I waved hello, and had a long walk down to my seat with my friends 💅🏽 felt good 🤷♂️
Karma does happen
Also found out he gets in DV situations a lot which explains a lot but 🐸 🫖 🍵
I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had to experience that. Some people are just rude and have no manners. I’ve had this happen to me several times at mixers - people come up and start talking to the person I’m chatting with, not even attempting to include me in the conversation, don’t look at me or even acknowledge me. It’s certainly frustrating. It’s mostly been younger people who have done this with me, the most recent example being a young Asian woman. I’m a white female, so I can’t really speak to the racism/microaggression possibility. Not to invalidate your feelings or experiences at all, but is it possible that those people’s actions could be attributed to a lack of manners or social propriety, rather than malicious intent? Either way, it sucks that you were treated like that, and I hope you’re able to find social circles that are more welcoming to you.
