Ya. You were laid off because the “leaders” at your shit firm failed you. It was their responsibility to provide you with everything you needed to succeed, but instead, they were focused on themselves.
In other words, you’re doing just fine and are no different than anyone else.
Start the new job by focusing on 3 things you know you do well (doesn’t matter what) and add incrementally as you go.
👍🏼
Fake it until you become it while not being afraid to say I don’t know and then research the shit out of it
Before you start, work very hard on the skills you know you’ll need on a daily basis (financial modeling, etc), research the heck out of these company (Read latest 10-K/annual report, set up google alerts, look at a analyst reports, etc)
Once you start: relationship building should be your top priority. First 6 months, make sure you’re working your ass off even on your own time so you can catch up with the rest of your team inlearning about leadership, systems, lingo and resources. Find a buddy at your level and a mentor a few levels above you. Be on your best behavior and try to be the first guy through the door (there’s an inexplicable positive bias towards people arriving early, they’re automatically thought of as high performer)
D1, what the hell is wrong with you?
Most of all, have a positive, can-do attitude and you’ll do great!
As much as I agree with kpmg1 said - it’s also important to objectively analyze what you did well and what you did poorly. Ask people you trust about this as well
Are we not allowed to ask questions on FB anymore? D1 - Trying to gain some perspective on what practitioners are looking for from leadership, which I would have though is a good thing.
D1 - calm the eff down. It was a fair question
All staff emails
Industry or consulting role?
Listen and learn. Don’t act like you know everything!
Check your breath and underarms
Be yourself and you’ll be fine. Just be open to self growth
K1, when you say it was the responsibility of OP’s leadership to provide everything the OP needed to be successful, what does that mean or look like?
🤦♂️ Out of curiousity, what firm are you with?
Your firm. Which I why I was curious to learn more.
Nice, I thought so!
OP, please feel free to unsubscribe at any time.
D2 - RE-read his first post and think of the background on this thread. I’m just tired of working with tone-dead aholes IRL and don’t wanna deal with them on FB I guess. No offense to anyone
