There is no talent shortage of people looking for jobs and ok working in office. Remember how Elon’s move to layoff employees at Twitter serve as the catalyst to the lay off heavy culture we are in now? This move will not only NOT bite them in the butt BUT also serve as a catalyst driving ever other company back to office 5 days a week.

Your problem is you are trying to apply linear based thinking to this. I work with executives and hr leaders of the world’s largest and most admired companies. What I described is where we are headed revenue or no revenue. Elimination of middle management and deploying labor to offshore resources will contribute to it being an employers market for the next few years. This was fun. Continue to argue with yourself on this matter. Revisit this post next year to confirm what I’ve already told you like a crystal ball

It’s a move which might not work well for them.

The world has moved on, and people have been acclimatised to a better work/life balance.

Let’s talk speed reading. I’m a slow reader and listened to a podcast recently on speed reading. I’m intrigued. Who here speed reads? How did you learn those skills, and what types of documents do you speed read in practice? I do mostly litigation and am thinking that speed reading would help with research but maybe not things like doc review where you need to review for both responsiveness and privilege.

I'm reading this book on boundaries. In the work section it says I should tell my boss that I can't work after 5 PM. Knowing that advertising work commonly goes past 5 PM...would my job be in danger if I said that?
There's not really a rule book that says I must work until the work is done even though it's an unsaid expectation. Thoughts?

My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. The new director essentially began shutting me down any time I ask for clarity in my career progression. I had a great review and a 5.5% raise and a great bonus at my company. But I also got a new Director and a peer manager of mine left the company, so I will be absorbing her team. In addition, my director said I will be receiving 'deep delegation' from them. I don't mind more work, but deep delegation is a new term I've never heard. What does that mean lol?
