Were the goals that were set for the year achievable? Lots of people and organizations set lofty goals that are aspirational at best. That isn’t helpful. Look into SMART goals and set those. Aspirational things are for vision statements.
I have accomplished a ton according to my SMART goals. Unfortunately, HR (and specifically DEI) will always struggle with meeting goals.
I feel this. It's hard not to get down on yourself when you start the year feeling like you've got the buy in to accomplish things and then you look back at the end and feel like you just didn't get there. But I bet what you WERE able to accomplish is still something. Change is sometimes incremental, but it's still change. Reset and refocus.

Goals are needed, they are great guideposts of progress but the real change is happening in the journey. What change was happening between the milestones and checkpoints? Maybe this year was about personal or systemic seeds planted or gestating, or new lessons learned, more than goal attainment or fruition? We know this is not a checklist effort, as frustrating as that is for goal driven orgs and individuals.
