LA Biglaw associate here. It’s basically a don’t come in unless you absolutely have to. Some boomer partners go in semi regularly but the few times I went in (maybe 5 times since WFH) it’s a ghost town and maybe 6-7 total people (attorneys and staff) were there at any given time that I went.
Yeah I’m in biglaw in CC and we need to email the admin director and request a time to go into the office for a specific reason - e.g. accessing hard copy files or working on a manual filing that cannot be done remote. They are pretty clear that they do not want anyone in the office for any reason but will make an exception if you have a good reason.
Same.
Right now they should be closed as non-essential businesses per the restrictions.
This. Larger firms are closed but likely let people come into the office if they want. Smaller firms with bad management have declared themselves essential (they aren’t) and exposing their employees to COVID. I know of at least two firms where people have gotten COVID and the offices STILL didn’t close.
They remind us that we’re technically essential, but then expressing tell us not to go in unless absolutely necessary. We have two of our support staff in office to handle what has to be handled there, and some partners go in semi-regularly, but most people are WFH since March. I’ve been back maybe 3 times, twice to pick something up and once because I had something that required me to deal with physical docs.
