We've always celebrated every individual employee's birthday. Now that we've grown I'm finding it difficult to keep up with coordinating something for 80+ individual employees. I find it impactful for employee engagement to do something special for them but am interested in exploring other ways that aren't as time-consuming and more cost-effective to celebrate their birthdays.

Can you share what your company does and your experience with the impact of recognizing employee birthdays? Thanks!

I find it has greatest impact to parse out the population by department and empower the department leader to coordinate the celebrations. HR can support, but the with the leader taking the lead it lightens the lift.

I have a report that fires off once per month on a scheduler to notify the leader of birthdays and anniversaries for the month. Helps with a lot of the burden.

Lol - "empower the department leader"... I think you spelled "dump it onto someone else" wrong 😂

In the past it’s been a quarterly celebration

lol,thanks..if you love your team great, otherwise I would take a small gift over the formal celebration..

My old company used to have Everything Bundt Cakes delivered on the morning of a bday (or next working day) and it was on your desk before you came in. The Office Manager kept a bday database with them and updated them with new hires or those who left the company, and Everything Bundt Cakes took it from there (even delivered it in the morning). Maybe something local to you would be willing to have a similar arrangement?

I would suggested themed birthdays and grouping them together. Instead of doing one event for one birthday as you used to, do one event for multiple birthdays. Themes could be months, seasons, zodiac signs, etc. People will still feel appreciated but if you have 80+ employees there’s very literally a chance you have a birthday every week, or multiple a week and that’s a bit much having a celebration so frequently.

One of my past employers used to provide Birthday day off..CEO of another firm used to send a personalized email..

I get a $25 gift card.

Monthly birthday lunch for the whole office

Instead of recognizing each birthday individually, we designated one day each month to celebrate all the birthdays that fell within that month. We would have a special cake or treat in the break room, along with a card signed by everyone in the office. It became a fun monthly tradition that employees looked forward to, and it was much easier to coordinate than individual celebrations.

Hello,
I'm looking to know what remote jobs are out there for nurses/ names of companies? I used to work in the OR and I'm also considering going back and just working 4-10s.

I'm an outpatient nurse currently but I don't get lunch breaks, and the work load keeps increasing with no mention of another nurse to help us.

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.

I’m accustomed to keeping my students’ IEP folders in my classroom & being held responsible for their safekeeping. There really is such a direct correlation between cringey title and cringey posts.

Before LinkedIn...to me, the king of professional cringey was Shingy. Do you guys remember him? He was aol's overpaid "digital prophet" and got paid to visit companies at lunchtime and babble the same kind of nonsense we now call "LinkedIn cringe".
