What advice will you give to yourself when you were a newbie in the professional life? Give the context too.
I’ll go first- I’ll tell myself to not overshare, especially to the manager. People will generally make an image of you and judge you on basis of that even if you have changed a lot.

Don't let people take advantage of you just because you are young/new. Have confidence and be willing to stand up for yourself if necessary.

TC?

Learn the office game. Play it.

I still haven’t learnt it. Trust people easily🥲

I would tell myself to know my worth.

Totallt agreed

Mine is completely opposite experience.
Being a newbie, I always kept things to myself and later realized that my manager was always willing to help and support no matter my issue was with the projects , with over utilization or some personal level issue. And now I trust my manager with anything. Infact any small glitch I go straight to my manager, asking for suggestions or atleast informing about issue and providing the assurance that I am handling it.

I kinda agree. I think the more vocal I am about what I'm working on, things I'm struggling with etc, the more support I get. It's been better for me in terms of promotion discussions as well.

Definitely have confidence in yourself and believe in yourself. Don't let them get premium on you

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I'm worried that if I speak up, she'll make my life even harder. I don't want to lose my job because of this—do you guys have any advice?
