I've submitted my latest paper to the largest journal in my field, but it's taking forever for them to review it. I feel like they're just stalling me because they don't want to publish it. But if they don't publish it, then who will? And what happens if someone else finds out about my findings before they're published?

I’m starting my PhD in environmental engineering and would like to know what jobs there are to apply to after I complete my degree. Is it true that companies are hesitant to hire PhD-degree holders, and if so, what can I do to advocate for myself in job applications?

I am fairly green in academia (< 1 year) and I want to shift to an area of research which I always wanted to do but never could as a Ph.D. student (because of conflict of interest).
The issue I am facing is that due to lack of my documented research experience in this field (read, lack of papers) I am finding it very hard to land any grant and reviewers keep saying "The PI hasn't demonstrated any experience in said research" blah blah.
Any advice on how to overcome this?

It is elementary that the development of a theory is based on completed and finished works or theories with a sufficient basis to be possible. But what were guys like Plato based on? He could only rely on what his mind told him. It must have been very difficult but at the same time, they were very brave in defending their ideas.

Are there any good paying weekend research/lab jobs in Austin Texas? Because I’m getting $23/hr as a research coordinator and know for a fact I’m being under paid lol all because I am “new to research” yet I have a bachelors is biology and have done research projects in school and have plenty of other work experience…. I have been approached by 3 separate HR people at a startup company to interview for a position. I already have a fulltime job that pays well and I only started 6 months ago too. Anyways, the pay was intriguing and the job was a high level scientific advisor so I did interviews. At the last interview, at the end I was told the job was for management but I prepared for a different kind of interview. I am waiting for an offer or rejection letter. I feel peeved that they wasted my time. Red flags?
