What are Latham NYC perks (vacation, gym, free food etc) and how do they compare to other NYC firms

We have a gym and free hot lunch/fancy coffee. Other meals and snacks are available for purchase (meh). Unlimited PTO and great parental leave (22-26 weeks for birthing parents; 14 weeks for non-birthing; eligible upon start date). Our parental leave is better than all of our peer firms. The gym is decent but gets crowded during busy times.

I’m in litigation. The partners all work on vacation. The associates often take 2-3 weeks of vacation per year and don’t work at all. On the remote work question, you may not get a clear answer because we went from being very remote friendly to four days a week RTO (officially starting in January).

We have an office gym in the building that attorneys and staff have access to…it’s not too big but it actually has classes and such…I used to go really late when equinox would otherwise be closed.

We have free lunch buffet (the food is okay).

Vacation…I think you just need to maintain a good pace of hours.

Otherwise, I think we have really good support staff generally.

I wouldn’t say there’s really a policy - more like, hit a minimum of 1900 hours and otherwise do as you please

Does anyone know if this is normal? I joined a vault 100 firm in September last year. The firm put me on tier 7. In January I had the associate review and everything was normal. After a couple of weeks, I got the call from the hiring partner telling my bonus and new salary (because of the firm-wide salary increase). I realized I still get paid as a 7 year associate. The partner said because I joined the firm later in the year, it’s normal not to advance in the next year. Is it? Thanks!

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? In case it is helpful, I come from a civil law country. Thanks!

In the current lateral market what is the usual time for hearing a decision after a final round of interviews?
