Googling ADHD today (I’m having a distracted day) and super frustrated because I’m realizing that I was likely misdiagnosed as depressed for years. I was taking SSRIs and dealing with awful side effects while I struggled for so long. I finally got an official diagnosis about 10 years ago but was never taught the symptoms or how to manage them. Found you tube channel ADDitutde magazine. Several really good presentations with recent developments Thought I’d share.

I am really glad you shared this. Reading this and thorugh this chain I have found some really valuable resources. I also struggled being diagnosed as depressed and taking so many different medicaitions.

The "How To ADHD" channel on YouTube also has some good stuff. Easily digestible.

Are you saying you were diagnosed with depression 10 years ago, or with ADHD?

like

That's tough. ADHD does share decent comorbidity with depression. It can hard to tell which to prioritize treating. But leaving the ADHD untreated surely made things much harder for you than it needed to be, whether you also had depression or not.

On the bright side, you now know about it and what to work on when issues arise.

I was just diagnosed at 48. Isn’t it crazy how much it impacts your life? I can’t remember the name of the doctor now but there are videos on that ADHD resources YouTube channel. It’s more about the inability to self-regulate than just focus…

I think many of us have been through something similar. Its really easy to be misdiagnosed and then spend your entire life trying to figure out what s wrong with you. This happened to me as well.

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?
