Change door locks, find the water and electric mains, understand your systems and what to do in an emergency, hook up utilities and vendors, meet the neighbors (if applicable), trace all gne switches, .ake sure it's clean before you begin moving in, decide whetber you are painting/doing anything else that would be easiest when empty, understand your agricultural zone and your plants and lawn and pool/hottub (as applicable) and their needs, learn your watering days/times and trash/recycling days...I could keep going but that's a good start for the first day.

Agree with changing locks and finding all the shutoffs. I also replace all the toilet seats.
Add attic insulation

Don’t have a nickel to your name anymore? Then door locks and garage door code. Have $100k? Then remodel and major projects before you move in so you can live there a long time comfortably (eg roof, water heater, insulation, furnace/ac unit, ducting, etc)
