What are the best sites /apps for wine purchasing / collecting? I was thinking of looking at the Wine Enthusiast magazine for their top wines of the year and start going down the list.

I love vivino

like

In my opinion oak is overrated on vivino leading to skewed rankings for my preference. If it’s highly rated and the top note is vanilla I know it’s likely not going to be my favorite. On the other hand the masses clearly love this

Cellar tracker has really thoughtful tasting notes, but UI is old school. Quality over quantity.

Wine Searcher for finding inventory

Emphasis on Wine searcher.

Look at Robert Parker and Wine Spectator for reliable ratings. Sokolin wine is the best in the business. www.Sokolin.com. For transparency I was with Sokolin for 14 years.

CellarTracker has real reviews by real wine drinkers. It’s my go to app

like

CellarTracker >> it’s a wine drinkers site whereas Vivino is a marketing app.

Hey all! Need a couple book recs for an upcoming beach trip.

Looking for a great non-fiction, relating to travel or world history (not just one moment in time). Could also be about the marketing world or memoirs of a business leader kinda thing.

Fiction wise I also like fantasy, paranormal, and romance. Some fave book series are the Black Gryphon from Mercedes Lackey, Game of Thrones, and From Jamaica Lane series. Similar books?

I’m interested in pursuing cosmetic dermatology (possible Botox and laser treatment) for the first time. I’ve done a ton of research and the derm I’m most interested in going to charges a $150 consult fee but does NOT apply that cost to any treatments you get, whereas from my research it seems like derms in my city usually do apply the consult fee to the treatments. Would you pass on her due to that additional cost, or consider it worth it to see the derm you want to see?

This was by far the most interesting wine cellar I have ever seen. It's not temperature controlled because the caves in Cappadocia remain chilled even when the temperature outside is over 40゚C!

Big fan of this one. Not super bold. More velvety. Subtle leathery taste, hints of vanilla! I picked up a half case for 120, or $20 a bottle! I may actually buy more. 8/10 for price and taste. Very elegant.

Dry. Acidic nose. But for $10 this wine is amazing. Where else can you find a ‘14 vintage for that cost. I Get nectarine hints maybe plum. Very little body. Mild tannin; I wouldn’t mind putting out for guests. If you’re going for something dry, acidic, in the red department, can’t complain. I picked this one up from Trader Joe’s. Hope you find this helpful!

I need advice from the collective. It seems like there is a trend to sell wine in unique bottles. The only problem with this, those bottles will not fit into my wine fridge. Has anyone transferred wine to standard bottles and are you concerned about the wine one it hits the air? I’ve looked at vacuum stoppers but not sure if this is a good idea or not.

Any recommendations on getting into wine? I love other specialty beverages (3rd wave coffee, craft beer), but struggle to “figure out” wine.

The ability to get involved with local beer and coffee producers has been a huge factor for me, so I’m guessing the comparative lack of local wine producers has contributed to me struggling to understand more of the process, culture, tasting notes, etc.

I am looking for wine decanter tags that are writable. I’d like to find a vintage looking silver option, but they all require engraving. I’m looking for something writable that I can change the label on when I host wine parties and I have a couple decanters on the table. Anyone have something similar and can share a link with me? Need some recommendations on Red Wines from Wine & Spirits under $30. I tend to favor bitter over sweet flavors more. Please give me some to try these next few weekends!

This 2010 was to early to pop. After 3 hours it started to show the depth and complexity. True to form, this is an old world style of wine giving more gritty earthy notes.
