What are the Oliver Wyman travel benefits? Can you fly business or at least economy plus if your flight is longer than a certain threshold? What hotels do you stay at? Oliver Wyman

Nothing above B4..
only mbb have decent domestic travel benefits

We used to travel a lot pre-covid. Now it’s a lot more variable depending on the project, but I still travel 1-2x a month.

A couple travel benefits I can think of:
1) Expense the annual fee on a credit card that gets you lounge access
2) We have a good status booster deal with Delta

Otherwise I think our approach to travel is reasonable but not extravagant. We travel business for long haul (over 5h each way), but generally economy under that.

like

The delta-fast track status thing is especially great because you can get most (US based) airlines to match status.

ie, if you only fly United but have lower status for whatever reason, so the delta challenge, get platinum medallion, and if you ask United they’ll usually bump you to platinum status to get your business back

We get business for red eye flights too! Its quite nice. Price doesnt matrer much.

funny

That’s definitely not true lol

Guys we have no real rules. I book all comfort plus everything and business if it’s cross country or international (us based)

like

Yes. It depends on the expense structure of your project and how your client interacts with expenses/what language you put in the sow. Me and the partner I work with designed a less anal expense structure with our client so we don’t have to worry about it and provide our team an incentive to over deliver.

like

When I interviewed they gave me the impression that OW consultants travels very less

Hotels are project dependent but they’re generally nicer Marriotts

And being green-lit to use the Marriott code for personal travel feels nice, even if every other firm is ostensibly doing the same thing

Question on entering consulting. Worked for a non-profit for six years, entered healthcare tech last year as a CSM, and just got an offer from a life sciences consulting firm. My hope is to eventually get into more broad strategy consulting (MBB or big 4, have connections at both). Would working at a more boutique firm limit or help in the long run? I don’t want to be in life sciences forever but figured it could be a good launchpad into consulting. I’m 30 so not old, but also not young.

What are benefits like at Accenture?

I’m really discouraged. My after tax / after 401k contributions etc. take home pay is $6,500 monthly. I have $60,000 in savings / stocks for a down payment but even looking at a $550,000 home, my monthly payment would be about $3,400 from the calculators I’ve been using. Is that too high?

So discouraged that houses where I live are about 50% higher than what they were 2 years ago, and now interest rates are around 5.25% for my credit score. This is like a 1750 sq foot home

What would u do? 3 YOE HCOL city and I have 2 potential options:
1) move to a boutique healthcare strategy consulting firm in a similar role as I have now (client facing consulting role).. 120-130 base + 20% bonus
2) a product specialist role at Meta (FB). This told role product management, it’s analytics heavy. $107k base, 10% bonus, $30K stock.

At the end of the day, TC for both is similar. As far as exit opportunities I’m not sure what is better, so looking to get other people’s opinions.

I have an interview tomorrow with a recruiter who contacted me through LinkedIn. I believe I am way under-qualified for the position and I pointed that out to her, but she responded with several points from my resume as to why she believes the role is a good fit with my experience. It would be a leap, but maybe I need to take it as a challenge and not limit myself? I just don’t want to get in over my head and fall flat on my face. What are some questions I could ask during the first interview?
