I extend myself the same flexibility I extend to my employees. I prioritize working remote on those days if possible and take necessary breaks as needed. Recommend checking in with your OB or GP as well if these are new symptoms.
I cycle sync and my relationship with my period and the cramps etc. has changed.
Because I track my period, I plan my calendar around it and my body’s needs as much as I can.
I will make sure my calendar is light on the work days that I am bleeding, day 1 is the worst cramps wise.
I eat to meet my hormonal needs, and schedule mental activity around my hormones as well because they impact my mood and energy levels.
Full disclosure- I’m not on any hormonal birth control so tracking etc. is easier because there’s nothing influencing it.
Books like Sacred Woman by Queen Afua, In The Flo by Alissa Vitti, and Fast Like A Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz, are great resources.
Without digging too deep, create space on your calendar and ease for yourself during your bleed week and use the rest of your cycle (the other 20-25 days) to gear up for that week when things slow down. I hope that helps.
Also, pineapple juice and chamomile tea helps, heating pads, and… everyone is different but my friends and I all noticed that using period panties, pads, or cups instead of tampons made a difference in how our pelvic area felt.
Your uterus spends all month building a nest in your body, and works with your hormones to make it baby ready. It then breaks it down and expels it during your bleed week if you don’t fall pregnant - that’s a lot. Use those three days when it calls for rest - to rest. 🙏🏾
If it’s that bad suggestion talking to your doctor
I honestly have the worst period pains. I sip on teas all day, sleep on hot water bags or heating pads and tell everyone at work not to expect a word from me. It's worked all these years, now my employees just know when it's the time of the month for me!
You’ll maybe be surprised to hear… orgasm. Get out your battery operated friend.
