What chance do I, a PhD scientist working at a national science lab, have of moving into the quantitative finance space in the current job market? I didn't go to a top-tier school, but I think I'm pretty decent at what I do. Also, I know that I could learn whatever skills I'm lacking while on the job, but would potential employers have an appetite for an ex-scientist, who would need to learn a few skills on the job, in the current climate?
