I am not MBB, this is what I see versus 50 to 100 IMO people from the Big 4.
Both have value in some places and I have seen both work side by side as have I alongside Big4
More pretentious idiots that went to overpriced colleges
EVERYONE gets the Big4 offer
MBB has better people, is known to be more prestigious and difficult to get into, has better clients, more $, and better exit opportunities. If Big 4 is offering a salary slightly above MBB, you’re probably going to be better off in the long run going MBB. Some ibanks prefer Big 4 over management consulting in general, but they probably would still prefer MBB to Big 4
SA1, you know your title is listed when you comment, right? We can see that you’re new to consulting. Me: 3 years at PWC, 5 at BCG, came to AP for the pandemic. OP, feel free to DM if you want to chat.
What’s the M&A execution work called in MBB? Transformation? Or just M&A? Thought they only focus on strategy
Primarily the quality of the teams
I’ll ACTUALLY answer your question. Think transaction life cycle, which starts with strategy at top and execution at bottom. Big four has historically focused on execution while MBB focuses on strategy end. Really don’t compete based on focus. That said, both have recently been expanding/poaching talent from each other to expand service offerings to compete for work that historically they didn’t go after.
