What do y'all use? What is the best (free) website to plug in current portfolio / net worth, annual expenses, and other factors to determine at what net worth I can retire? I know about the 4% rule etc. I would just like to know which free tools are the best out there nowadays.

You could probably setup a quick little google sheet with the major accounts and some formulas for withdrawal rate and such.

I don’t know how much I trust a free (or even paid) app or plugin to access all of my important financial data.

I did this and plan to test with Projection Lab.

Projection Lab, for $100 a year.
I hear Boldin is also good.

I’d be interested to know if anyone recommends free ones.
Free commercial ones such as empower are far worse - but perhaps better than nothing.

I’m sure some are doing good things in excel too.

If you are several years away, then estimating when you’ll hit the 4% rule may also be fine,
Also remember unknown future investment returns will mean the range could be +\- 5 years until you get very close.

I use Projection Lab and I like it.

visit 2Sides of FI website and find the link to the free SWR toolkit spreadsheet

its in Google Sheets format and can be easily converted to Excel if you have excel

Boldin working well for me, and their Reddit forum is very useful.

Didn’t love Boldin, personally. Interested in trying projection lab next.

Flexible retirement planner is free and has been highly accurate from our use. It is a bit clunky/dated. Think windows app. We used it for a few years and now pay for Boldin. If you want free it is probably the best free one out there.

I use the planning tools within the RBC portfolio management app but I have half of my investments with them so I'm not sure if that's why it's "free."

Have Claude create you a custom app for you .

I have been using Claude Pro to evaluate my portfolio. This version is so bad, and shameless. Made mistakes, and after I pointed them out, took credit for “discovering” the mistakes 😂

Well yes. Crypto is taxed like stocks & other types of property. When you sell for a profit, you are required to pay tax on the gains. It’s called capital gains tax.
