Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

Rising Star
APS trying build consulting capability with con/scon equivalent wages. Will be scraping the bottom of the barrel and still be hamstrung by internal processes and delegations to get changes happening.
They also haven’t described how it is any different to the failed uk model
I would need to come in at the very top of the EL2 band to take a 40k pay cut to work on this. I’m assuming the SES roles are already stitched up. With that money they will get other APS transfer, in which case they’re robbing Peter to pay Paul, or they’ll get the consultant to junior manager ranks from PwC and Big 4, which are currently copping an absolute flogging and scandal after scandal.
To answer your question - refer to the AFR consulting salary guide. That’s roughly upper end of ‘consultant’ and bottom of bracket for senior consultant at big4.
Their EL1 offer is competitive for a Big4 Snr con level traditional offer
This feels like a bad episode of utopia.
Not targeting MBB or T2 talent with those salaries
Don’t think the issue with gutting public sector capability was ever about the loss of MBB/T2 talent, it was the outsourcing of functions that to be honest an analyst in government could do to B4 - taking public money into private hands
