Meanwhile the client knows full-well that they’re abusing the agency team by canceling their holiday time off; time the client will no doubt be enjoying themselves.
Their cruelty is the point. They don’t “need” it the 1st week of the year.
Clients will ask for a month long project on December 23rd, want it by January 5th, not look at it until January 8th, and want the entire thing redone by the 9th.
Communicate *well* in advance what days your team will be OOO during the holidays, then tell the client before thanksgiving that any work that needs to be ready to post the first week of January must be completed before you’re OOO for the holidays. Give them a deadline to submit requests by.
Then, when they inevitably submit a request you can’t reasonably do in time for first week of Jan, tell them your first day in-office to work on that is whatever your first working day of January is (prob the first Monday). Tell them you can get it done that week for posting by the second week of January.
