What do you guys think of walking into the office to submit the resume? Online applications never work for me, I never landed anything just by applying online. All the jobs I have ever got was by talking to people.

Great way to get escorted by security. What year do you think it is?
is it really necessary to be so rude?

If you’re entry level and can’t get interviews, it’s your resume. All big4 and most mid size firms don’t process resumes in-office anymore. All resumes are sent to a single processing center where they are scanned by machines and those that pass gets forwarded to the respective offices’ hiring managers.
Update your resume, use buzz words like “lead, organized, maintained, prioritize, efficiency, processes” etc. Use words that denote responsibility rather than routine- instead of saying “helped” use “assisted”, instead of “I did” say “maintained/lead”. In fact I would avoid saying things in first person (I.e. saying ‘I did’”).
Embellish your resume; but don’t lie.

Could have an impact. In that case, mention it on your summary section (if you don’t have one, you should put one- keep it short of about 5 brief and succinct sentences). Briefly add why you were out of a job for 4 years since graduating: “Coached as a physical fitness instructor and cultivated growth and self confidence for my clients for four years postgraduate and now seeking to establish a rewarding career in public accounting”.
If you don’t have any good reason for those 4 years off, make one up and rehearse it so you’re able to answer any follow up questions. (I know that advise goes against the ‘don’t lie’ above, but saying I didn’t do anything for 4 years will sink your ship 💯). But I’m sure you have your reasons, whether that’s you taking a different path for awhile (physical fitness like above), family reasons, health reasons, etc are all valid reasons- you don’t need to provide details on those if you’re not comfortable and no reasonable hiring manager or interviewers would ask for more info anyway.
Well at least in our building , you wouldn’t get past the front desk in the lobby to even get to our office
I did this when I applied for work in a different city. It seemed to work very well, but not sure about now in the post Covid lockdown world. So many companies have gone hybrid or completely remote now. Might be difficult to find someone in the office unless you really planned it out.

The two other commenters are right about security but to me this shows initiative. Would probably work better for a smaller business with old school ownership if I’m honest. For larger businesses try to find the hiring manager and message them on LinkedIn.
did all that thats why I am thinking about this route. I message them, they look at my profile and no response lol. I will keep trying
I put my American nickname on my resume since people stumble with my name.
I would talk to temp agencies because if you take something part time it would be opportunity to network.
Talk to people in your community if they know of any local CPA firm that may need extra hand.
Thank u
Could work for smaller businesses but not large corporate ones
If it’s actually just your name, just put a “nickname” down and don’t put any international experience on your resume

This is how my dad told me to find a job in 2008. Pound that pavement
I agree with all of the other comments. It isn't possible to walk into some buildings and get past the front desk. Even some small office buildings not located in a downtown area have a receptionist or some type of security.
My view is that applying the conventional way - preferably to the employer itself instead of via a job board if possible - is your only logical avenue for submitting resumes in practice, unless you want to be shown to the door by security.
I never get interviews just by applying online. Infact i have never landed any job just by applying online. I emaile recruiters in linkedin and they seem to be really interested until I send my resume, then ghost lol.
Applications specifically ask if you need sponsorship or not, weird name doesnt have anything to do with it.
There must be some other reason for rejection. Try for some internship or apply for other firms and then move to big4.
Take your time to improve on your weaknesses. Every opportunity has limited chances and be always unique in your field.
I think it is a big mistake to just show up. I doubt you will get by security with no appointment, and most employers will likely call the police. You can't even walk into a McDonalds and just apply anymore. Everything is done on line. Don't be discouraged foreigners are in big demand right now as companies have DEI quotas and mandates to hire DEI candidates. Just keep applying. It's just a really bad job market right now.
I don’t think anyone is calling the police on some one with a resume. Would image they will just tell you you can’t go to the office and need to leave
You need to connect with recruiters on linked in, send a short message and state upfront that you do not need sponsorship
If you're interested to apply for an IRS job, I can refer you.
thank u but unforunately m not a US citizen yet
Try going to company websites and sending your application to whatever emails you find on the website.
The other thing you can do is go on the SAICA and SAIPA website, find the lost of audit and consultinf firms listed on the sites, go on the compan‘a website to source email addresses and send your applications.
this has worked for me multiple times and I tell all my friends to do it, one of my friends just got a job last month using the same method.
Goodluck!
